In order to continually improve our services, we our proud to announce the expected release of a new email service solution. This new solution is a joint effort between DK Web Designs, GearHost, and SmarterTools. With the help of SmarterTools, the application SmarterMail has been designed as a new solution for our clients and includes many new and improved features.


Not only does this new solution bring many new exciting features but it will stabilize our email service offering greatly. There will now be multiple highly redundant email servers across the network to ensure optimal email connectivity and performance.


Below explains how we will perform this migration.


:when will this happen :

This migration is expected to execute on the morning of December 1st between the hours of 3:00am and 5:00am [Eastern Standard Time].

At this time GearHost will initiate the migration process. During this process we will migrate all existing mailboxes and settings to the new SmarterMail email solution. During this time there will be little to no email traffic allowed. However, we will collect any incoming email for later delivery. No email will be lost.

Due to the significant changes in this solution we will not migrate any stored email messages. Unless you have deliberately set your email program to store email on the server or you use Webmail rather than an email program, this does not affect you. For example only IMAP and Webmail clients are effected, not POP3 clients.


The "old" email solution (MailSite Express) will remain online for the next 30 days to ensure all "old" email on the server can be retrieved by the end user. Please note that the old email solution will no longer have the ability to receive or send email (the new solution will handle this). The old email solution can be reached by using oldmail.yourdomain.com as the hostname for either webmail or email clients.

The new email implementation greatly improves and adds new services and functionality to all end users. Here are a few new and improved features that will be offered:

» SPAM filtering using Bayesian filtering at the domain and user level
» Advanced content filtering
» AntiVirus Protection
» Alternative SMTP port setting
» Multi-language webmail interface with built-in spell check
» Improved functionality on existing POP3, SMTP and IMAP technologies
